Amyloidosis survivor Penny Kubik braved the heat and humidity this morning and finished one of the biggest (and best) 15k road races in the country. That's right, she ran the Boilermaker. This is by no means a small accomplishment. It's a hard, hilly course that attracts
world class runners. And, if you live in the Utica area as Penny does (and I used to), it's a notch on your belt that you want to have. The photo above (taken by Annette) shows Penny getting some water at the volunteer water station that some of my family man. That's my mom filling cups of ice on the right. It's just past the 7 mile mark and Penny was still smiling. According to the Boilermaker web site Penny finished with a time of 2:10:50. Way to go Penny! We're all proud of you.
Way to go Penny!!! That's quite an accomplishment.
